Northern Kafue Safaris
The Busanga Plains and the Lunga River – the wild and the secretive – this is the Northen Kafue
Unspoiled Zambia: From the Famous Busanga Lion Plains to the secretive Lunga River wilderness.
Our two Northern Kafue Safaris camps operated by Everwild, offer complimentary safari experiences in the Northern Kafue to our 2 Nanzhila Safaris camps in the south to offer 4 completely different and unqiue Kafue experiences. Kasonso Busanga is located in the heart of the magnificent Busanga Plains, a vast seasonal wetland renowned for its intensive game viewing, including herds of Red Lechwe and highly visible lion prides. In contrast, Lunga Kikuji Camp is tucked away in the dense riverine vegetation on the banks of the Lunga River, focusing on seclusion, tranquility, and water-based activities like birding, boating and fishing. While Kasonso is characterized by open plains and concentrated animal action, Kikuji provides an intimate, slower-paced safari centered on the river’s rich biodiversity and superb birding. Both are small, intimate bush camps with just four tents each.

What makes the Northern Kafue camps worth visiting?
Three things you will appreciate when visiting the Northern Kafue:
01.
The Ultimate Kafue Contrast
Experience the massive ecological diversity of Northern Kafue, transitioning from the vast, open seasonal wetlands of the Busanga Plains (at Kasonso) to the dense, lush riverine wilderness along the Lunga River (at Kikuji). This dual-location approach ensures a complete view of the region’s diverse habitats and wildlife.
02.
Unrivaled Exclusivity
Both camps are highly selective and small, featuring only four tents each. This guarantees an intimate, uncrowded, and highly personalized safari experience, led by expert local guides who ensure exceptional focus and attention during every game drive, walk, or river cruise.
03.
Land and Water SafarisÂ
The itinerary offers a perfect blend of activities. You will enjoy intense predator and plains game viewing (lions, red lechwe, roan antelope) at Kasonso, complemented by specialized water-based safaris (boating, fishing, and dedicated birding excursions) along the tranquil Lunga River at Kikuji.
