PART 1: SAFARI ITINERARY: Day 1 – 4
The Southern Wilderness at Nanzhila Plains Camp
Your expedition begins with a deep dive into the secluded southern sector of the park at Nanzhila Plains Camp. This intimate retreat is tucked away under a canopy of ancient Jackalberry and Sausage trees, offering a sense of total isolation on the edge of a sprawling dambo. Because this area sees very few visitors, you will enjoy a private and peaceful safari experience where the focus is on the unique biodiversity of the southern grasslands. From the comfort of one of six en-suite chalets, you can look out over seasonal floodplains that host rare antelope species like roan and sable. Your days here are defined by flexibility, featuring signature night drives to find elusive predators and expert-led bush walks that allow you to connect with the finer details of the Zambian wilderness.
PART 2: SAFARI ITINERARY: Day 4 – 7
Riverbed Wonders at Nanzhila Lake Camp
On the fourth day, the landscape transforms as you move toward the shores of Lake Itezhi-Tezhi to stay at Nanzhila Lake Camp. Overlooking the Musa Riverbed, this camp offers a “Bushcamp Luxury” atmosphere that highlights the dramatic interaction between land and water. The accommodation consists of spacious tented chalets and a family unit, all designed with private verandas to capture the movement of wildlife along the shoreline. This region is a powerhouse for “mega-herbivore” sightings, with massive herds of elephant and buffalo frequently congregating near the water. During the drier months, the receding shoreline becomes a high-action zone for predators, providing guests with front-row seats to the raw survival cycles involving cheetah, wild dog, and lion prides.
PART 3: SAFARI ITINERARY: Day 7 – 10
The Iconic Horizon of Kasonso Busanga Camp
The final leg of your journey takes you to the crown jewel of the Kafue – the world-famous Busanga Plains. Staying at Kasonso Busanga Camp, you will experience a classic, authentic bushcamp set among picturesque fig tree islands and vast, seasonal wetlands. The four traditional safari tents are strategically placed to offer uninterrupted views of the endless horizons that make this region so famous. This is the land of the legendary Busanga lions and staggering numbers of Red Lechwe that splash through the shallow channels. Whether you are traversing the plains on a game drive or exploring the bird-rich floodplains, this final stop provides the quintessential Zambian safari experience, concluding your 9-night journey in one of Africa’s most breathtaking and unique habitats.
