How to get to Lumbe:

Lumbe Pools is remote but accessible! This means that once you arrive, you can kick off your shoes, turn off your phone and relax!

FLY TO LIVINGSTONE OR KASANE

Fly commercially to Kasane (Botswana) or Livingstone Airport (Zambia).
MEET & GREET: ROAD TRANSFER TO CAMP

We will arrange a road transfer for you from the airport to Lumbe Pools. Drive time from Kasane: 4hours and form Livingstone 4.5 hours.
SPEND 4 nights at Lumbe Pools

Mid-late afternoon transfer and check into camp. Beach braai and finger supper.

Tigerfishing, River Brunch, Sioma Falls

The first morning of the “Rite” Safari – Zambezi begins with a morning of guided tiger fishing on our drift boats followed by brunch back in Lumbe. There is normally some down time in camp before we meet again or the afternoon’s fishing before meeting the pontoon for sundowners. Dinner in camp will follow.

DAY 3: TYPICAL ITINERARY

Self guided morning activities, shooting rapids and a Potjie Dinner

Today’s event’s push everyone’s boundaries a little more!

Shoot the rapid

After learning the ropes the previous day, today you and your youngster get to take the inflatable drift boats out yourselves for self guided fishing and shooting the Overland Missions Rapid!

We also get to experience a river brunch and swim in the 2nd largest waterfall on the Zambezi – the Sioma Falls!
RETURN TO CAMP

Whilst our team are always around or nearby, it really is a day together on a wild river before returning to camp in the late afternoon to collect your ingredients for our Team Potjie Dinner.

We will setup the coals and open the bar whilst you work together to cook the best potjie on the Zambezi!

TYPICAL ITINERARY: DAY 4

An active day of fishing, soccer with the community and a beach sleep out.

We start the day with foot based fishing from the rocks below the Falls before heading to our neighbouring community, Maziba Village, for a soccer match and a shared meal together. Following the shared meal and the soccer, we fish down to a remote beach where camping gear and packed dinner will be waiting. Enjoy a night camping on a remote beach around a fire beneath the stars.

Optional Add on

NOTE: For groups who want to add more meaning, depth to the experience, we can add a “ceremony” to the end the end of trip whereby you’ll get to honour these yound adults! For families and groups wanting to have a more low-key tradional family or Dad’s and Lad’s fishing trip, this afternoon’s events can easily be swapped out for more fishing.

The morning begins with fishing back to Lumbe Pools arriving in time for brunch. After brunch, we grab the beach games and snorkelling gear and head down to the Lumbe beaches. As the sun starts to lower, everyone climbs onto the pontoon and heads out onto the Zambezi – it is time for the “Rite” Safari “Ceremony.”

The typical order of events runs as follows:

INTRO SPEECH

The Father/Mother/Mentor figure/s make speeches to their youngster / mentee about how they see them and call out the potential they see in them. It is a time to share your proudest moments and dreams for them.
PASSING OF THE ‘BATON’

Passing the Baton – this involves handing over a small but significant gift or symbol that marks their passage into adulthood.
ACCEPTANCE SPEECH

The youngster/mentee then makes a speech in return acknowledging the influence on their lives these older figures have had on them and committing to uphold the values of the family, company or school etc.
WHISKEY TASTING

Once the speeches are done, everyone enjoys a special whiskey or wine tasting together as the sun is setting over the Zambezi before returning to camp for dinner.
